How to Choose The Viewing Angle of Industrial Displays?

The viewing angle of an industrial display refers to the angle at which the user can clearly see all the contents on the screen from different directions. The light source displayed by the display has a certain directionality when it is output after refraction and reflection. When it is viewed beyond this range, color distortion will occur.

The viewing angle of an industrial display refers to the angle at which the user can clearly see all the contents on the screen from different directions. The light source displayed by the display has a certain directionality when it is output after refraction and reflection. When it is viewed beyond this range, color distortion will occur. The viewing angle determines the size of the user's visual range and the best viewing angle. If it is too small, the user will slightly deviate from the front of the screen and the display will lose color. Generally, a viewing angle of 120 degrees is used as the purchase standard.

The viewing angle of an industrial display is divided into two aspects: horizontal viewing angle and vertical viewing angle. The horizontal viewing angle is based on the vertical normal of the display (that is, the vertical imaginary line in the middle of the display) as the baseline. The display screen image can still be seen normally at a position to the left or right of a certain angle with the vertical normal. This angle range is the horizontal viewing angle of the industrial display; similarly, if the horizontal normal is used as the baseline, the viewing angle of the upper and lower angles is the vertical viewing angle. Usually, the reference standard for the viewing angle is the change in contrast. As the viewing angle gradually increases, the color contrast of the displayed image seen at this angle will decrease. When the angle increases to a certain extent and the contrast is lower than 10:1, this angle is the maximum viewing angle of the industrial display.

The viewing angles of industrial displays on the market are mostly symmetrical left and right, but not necessarily symmetrical up and down. Usually, the up and down angles are smaller than the left and right angles. An industrial display with a viewing angle of 80 degrees left and right can still clearly see the screen image when standing at a position 80 degrees from the vertical line of the center of the front of the screen. The larger the viewing angle, the wider the viewing angle, and the better the applicability of the industrial display.

If your product is considered for vertical installation, you must consider that the upper and lower viewing angles of the screen itself need to be the same or a full-viewing screen, such as an IPS screen.

At present, the viewing angles of most industrial displays on the market are above 120 degrees, and some products claim to reach 180 degrees. It should be pointed out that the nominal value of the viewing angle will be different under different measurement methods. Industrial display manufacturers usually do not indicate the specific measurement method. In general, the viewing angle is a reference value.
